Sail Date: May 2023
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

Let me list the ways: 1)Embarkation: staterooms not "released" for occupancy until almost 3pm after we had endured a "red eye" flight across the country arranged by NCL, waited almost an hour for NCL transfer to ship, and had to kill 3 hours on ship with carry on luggage 2)Cabin had hair (not ours) in shower, on bath floor and on shower curtain when we checked in 3)cabins cleaned once a day I can accept but on a port day, when I returned from swimming at almost sail time and the room had not been cleaned and towels all still in pile = unacceptable 3)My husband has lactose intolerance and notice was given at time of reservation, on the website, to the maitre d and to the server. Dinner meal was chosen day before so could be prepared with allergy in mind. Yet, TWO nights, meals containing lactose were served which we, luckily, caught before consuming. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Food allergies are very SERIOUS, they are not a "choice". 4) No Captain's cocktail party or invitation. Instead, small notation on newsletter scheduling for a "Latitude" cocktail get together at 12:15 and 1:15 in afternoon...REALLY???? I have cruised NCL since 1970's and having a higher Latitude ranking deserve better. The VERY LAST DAY, which was a sea day, my husband and I received a folded note that offered $50 off a spa treatment for "the next port day" to celebrate my "inaugural cruise" on NCL. How disrespectful and rude. When questioned about this, Guest Relations voiced what should be NCL's motto "We're sorry, we apologize". 5)Hot food was lukewarm, cold food was warm - salads are served in hot salad bowls, main entrees come in hot plates but cold food 6) Limited evening entertainment - Production show was offered on 2nd night and then on the 8th night the SAME production show was given - REALLY????? 7)DISEMBARKATION was a joke. The line to leave the ship ran all the way around the promenade deck and back into the theatre - Unbelievable. Never again, NCL.....

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Hair in shower and bathroom when we checked in and later on bath mat during cruise (long black thick hair and pubic hair, not ours). Mirror is room has lost it's silver so looked smeared the entire cruise. Very, very limited storage. Musty smell.

Port Reviews

Puerto Plata

Experienced a wonderful tour with guide "Super Mario". He was a tour guide with a company that was outside the shopping complex at the port, all the guides had lime green shirts (lost his card, sorry don't know the name of the company). He took us everywhere, spoke perfect English, was funny and personable, took great photos - the perfect guide. This was our favorite port.

Antigua

Prior to cruise, made arrangements for guide from "Lawrence of Antigua" to give the seven of us tour of island and snorkel time. EXCELLENT email communication, beautiful small tour bus, but the tour guide was well below our expectations. He did take us to the main points but his narrative was very limited. He was not the person had been previously communicating with (later received an apology that scheduling caused switch). Disappointing.

Great Stirrup Cay

Make sure to do some research about this private island. I did and the seven of us spent a beautiful day on an uncrowded beach area in front of the "private" cabanas/villas. Not very far to walk on flat surface will put you away from the hassle and crowds at the beach nearer to the tender drop off. Wonderful day of sun and snorkeling.

St. Maarten

Took the local bus to Maho (airplane) Beach. Just ask a local and they can point you to the pickup points. Only $2.50 per person each way. Easy and fun. Look up the plane schedule on the internet. It's posted when you get there at the Sunset Bar but look ahead of time to know whether you need to hurry or not.
