My partner is a Cruise Travel Agent and we were curious about this new cruise line so we booked a cruise while we were in the EU. First of all I feel very badly for the large majority of the crew who try really hard to provide excellent service. The ship is beautiful and very comfortable other than the lack of deck mapping as several guests were lost trying to get to a spot.
The biggest problem as I saw it, as did scores of other guests privately opined, was the quality of the food. Though occasionally something great was prepared, usually most things were cold and forgettable. The Exec Chef is clueless on basic international cuisine. We were presented a Coq au Vin that was a dried chicken breast on a bed of polenta; a very well prepared prime rib accompanied by a boiled potato without any seasonings, butter, sour cream ETC..; the most telling was the “soufflé” which was a small ramekin of egg custard. El Chef has no idea what a soufflé is. The best thing was a famous Brazilian Chef who gave a class on her signature dish, touted by the ship……and ran out during service… LOL….the food definitely improved when other guest chefs arrived…. This is an executive problem Sr. Rodriguez
The entertainment was non-existent at sea with a piano player who not only lacked basic personality but also had the worst singing voice I ever heard in a professional setting. Most of the crew had better voices. Because of the grating warbling we gathered together and formed our own disco party on another deck.
