We chose this cruise because friends who live in the USA were boarding in New York and it was an ideal opportunity to meet up with them. The QM 2 is looking really tired but one can excuse that to some extent. We made a late booking so couldn’t get the cabin of our choice but really nothing to complain about our sheltered balcony cabin, plenty of storage and a comfy bed, our housekeeper, Hugo was exceptional. We choose the early dining option, our waiters, Lino and John were also exceptional and nothing was too much trouble, however the food was never hot, it was barely warm. The free for all buffet on deck 7 was just the same, very limited choice and never hot. We were annoyed that on several days we were not allowed to serve ourselves but there was not enough staff to serve us? Other staff seemed lethargic.
There was not a lot to do onboard, a few jigsaws and games, the lectures were not interesting and clearly delivered by inexperienced people. If all you want to do is sit and read a book then this is the ship for you, thank goodness there were not too many sea days!
Evening entertainment was very amateurish especially the magician! In fact the only thing that kept my brain awake were the frequent quizzes.
Clean, plenty of storage. Hugo was exceptional. Balcony showing signs of rust.
