This was our first cruise with Windstar. We have cruised before on a large ship with a different cruise line. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the Star Pride. Our cabin was very comfortable and much larger then the other cruise line. We were in Cabin . The cabin is 277sq ft. It has a separate seating area with a couch and 2 chairs located next to a large window. The queen sized bed was comfortable with quaility pillows. Lots of strorage in cabinets and the desk. A walk in closet with room for more clothes then we needed to bring. Large bathroom with double sink vanity. The only thing we didn't like is we had one of the few cabins with a bathtub. It is a high step to step into the shower. We booked a room with out the shower for our next cruise. Food from every venue was wonderful. We had everything from oatmeal to Filet Mignon and Lobster. All included in the price. Every crew member greeted you every time. If yu wanted something to drink you could ask any crew member and within a few minutes it was in your hand with a smile. We took excursions booked thru Windstar in every port. All were fun trips and woth the money. Entertainment was provide by a 4 piece band who played a lot of cover songs. A couple with the woman singing and her husband on Guitar. The entertainment Director P.J. was funny and entertaining and he could really sing. His voice could bring you to tears. The open bridge policy was wonderful, I am an old sailer and it was great to see how a monder ship functions. The different lounges we comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked an even longer cruise on this ship in the Caribbean next January and a cruise on the Wind Surf in 2025.
Very roomy and comfortable. We were mid ships so very little movement which is important as my wife can get sea sick.
We took the Winstar excursion of a 1/2 day rental of a van with a guide. Our guide was a historian and gave us a great tour throughot the area.
We did the walking tour of the upper rock. Very interesting history lesson about the sieges of Gibraltar. We walked deep into the tunnels and saw the gun emplacements from the 1760's. Watch out for the monkeys. they are not afaid of people. One jumped on my back.
The Hassan II Mosque was impressive and interesting. Our tour seemed a little hurried.
We did the Cooking Paella in Malaga tour. A fun day in a small group learing to cook Paella. We did all the work cooking a 3 course meal and then sat down to a wonderful lunch with the fruit of our labors with some fine local wines.
We did the walking tour with tapas tasting. A nice slow paced tour stopping at 5 restaurants for a tapas and glass of their version of sangria. Finished with a local specility coffee drink with Liquor 43. A local made liquor
