I picked this ship and this sailing because it was out of New York and I wanted to go north. I had been on Norwegian previously and had to go experience. This was also a very good experience my only issue with the cruise was the fact that they only put on One show per evening, unlike celebrity and Disney which has two seatings per night. I therefore the first thing we had to do when we got on the ship was make our reservations for the shows. This was absolutely not what we wanted to do when we first got on the ship but we knew it was necessary otherwise Not only would we miss out on the basic shows we'd miss out on Six which was just coming on board. So that was annoying. It takes out the spontaneity of when you want to go and it forces everyone to pretty much eat dinner around the same time so they can get there for the one and only show.
We ate in two specialty restaurants Cagney's and the French restaurant. As native New Yorkers who can get virtually any food from any restaurant we were very very impressed with both restaurants. My husband continues to talk about Cagney's and we are going back on the Breakaway in October in Europe and he can't wait for me to rebook the restaurant. We've never been to Greece before but the restaurant is all he speaks of.
Having recently been to Newport we skipped getting off the ship that day and basically we had the run of the ship and my husband was able to go down the slide numerous times as no one else was waiting for it so that was very good because on sea days there's no ability to get a lounge by the pool. Having been on many cruises this is not indicative of Norwegian only.
I don't remember what happened designation it was. It was a balcony cabin on the 9th deck. It was nicely laid out and well maintained.
It was lovely the only issue was we needed to take a tender which I understand is so that the big ship does not more the view for everyone staying in Bar Harbor. My only disappointment was that the tour we wanted in Acadia, the carriage ride, was canceled. We did a bus tour instead.
Halifax was absolutely beautiful we took a 5-Hour Shutterbug tour which my husband really didn't want to do but he was happy that he did it with me. We saw Titanic grave site, we went to a beautiful English garden and we went to Peggy's Cove where we had lobster roll and a magnificent walk around.
