A transatlantic crossing was a bucket list trip. This trip so exceeded any expectation that it's hard not to sound phony. Some standouts: first, the crew/staff - talk about 5 star service, friendliness, thoughtfulness and super polished; second would be the ship itself - great cabin, wonderful public areas (e.g. really well equipped gym), really loved the outdoor infinity pool deck (had lunch every day) etc. etc. Other call-outs: the no casino, no kids was a huge bonus for me.
As good and as varied the food was in the main restaurant, having the two specialty restaurants (Manfredi and Chefs Table) was a real treat, especially on a two week cruise. Also, there was a real breadth of food overall - you could have Beef Wellington one night and a simple poached salmon with steamed veggies the next.
Interestingly, I spoke to a lot of people and 100% of all had been on previous Viking cruises. Best way to sum up: I just booked my next one.
How many hotel rooms, private houses, other ships have heated floors in the bathrooms!. Tons of storage, great bed, perfect for two full weeks on the water.
