We have done two river cruises with Viking in prior years, Danube and Rhone rivers and enjoyed both immensely. This year is our fortieth anniversary and our eightieth year and were looking for a longer cruise than a river cruise as well as one that did not have long hours in a cramped coach airplane.

The ports of call for the cruise were interesting; Charleston, SC, Norfolk, VA, New York, NY, Lunenburg, NS and Quebec, QE all nice venues. The food service, stateroom care, and local guide service were all very good. All of what we had received in prior Viking cruises. Stateroom I. Gede, wine waiter Nelson, waiter Alex just three that made the trip enjoyable. Even captain Cardestig's jokes were great!

There were two small problems with the cruise however and not necessarily Viking's fault. The rain storm in Fort Lauder dale prevented us from boarding there and we connected with the ship in Charleston, SC. I don't think Viking aggressively addressed this problem with telephone call and messages, The emergency number service was inadequate. The people in Charleston didn't know where the ship was to berth in the Cooper River. We spent an hour schlepping our bags around the marina to find the dock for the tender boat to get on the ship. The second incident was the fog in Montreal which again was beyond Viking's control. This resulted in a late arrival in Toronto. Viking did work exceptionally hard to rebook timely return flights and kudos to them for the well done job.
