This was my husband’s and my first Viking cruise. We had heard so many wonderful things about Viking and wanted to do something special for our 40th anniversary. We decided to do the Viking River cruise on the Rhine River from Paris, France to Zürich, Switzerland. They exceeded our expectations with their personal and friendly service. After the first night on our cruise, we went back to our cabin after dinner to find a lovely 40th anniversary dessert made especially for us. We were so surprised and amazed at the effort they go to to make your stay personable. The food was superbly, delicious and the chef took special care in each of the meals that were made Each night there was something new and special you could choose from, or you could choose from the standard menu.

If you needed something extra, Viking accommodated you to make your stay comfortable. Special care was taken in keeping our cabins clean and tidy and they always restocked clean towels and water.

Excursions and tour guides were very nice. We learned a lot about the history and culture of each city we stopped in. On this particular cruise, you start on the Moselle River where we embarked in Reims, France. It is such an enchanting river with quaint villages with their steepled churches, tolling bells, and vineyards on either side of the river. Further down the Moselle are many castles we enjoyed viewing from the terrace at the front of the boat on a beautiful sunny day. It felt like we were in a fairytale. Read more
