Sail Date: Apr 2023
Cabin: Mini-Suite with Balcony

We picked this because of the dates and the TA itinerary. We would be visiting ports that were all new places for us.

Embarkation went smoothly, even though we arrived a bit later than we would have liked (around 2 pm). We left a bit late but the party on deck was going strong while we sailed. We got a nice evening view of New York and the Statue of Liberty as we departed.

The seas were a bit rough on the way to Bermuda, and we arrived late due to strong winds, but the rest of the cruise was smooth with the exception of Cadiz. The weather was better than forecast almost everywhere we went. Disembarkation in Barcelona was smooth, and bags were waiting for us after clearing immigration.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

The Club Balcony Suite was very nice. We were on Deck 14 port side, where we had a great view of almost all of the ports and other interesting sights (like sailing past Gibraltar). It was close to the Splash Academy, but we had very few kids on the cruise, so it was quiet. I did like that the corridor that did not go the length of the ship, so we had almost no traffic other than those staying in the nearby cabins.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

Not much time here, as we were late arriving and didn't have much time to get out of the port area. We found enough to do, and walking around was nice.

Ponta Delgada

Whale watching trip was great! I hope to get to see Sete Cidades on the next visit.

Madeira (Funchal)

This was a fun stop, with the toboggan ride and visit to the botanical garden. If you can, allow some time to visit the botanical garden and just walk around the town.

Motril

Motril is an industrial port, not a cruise terminal, but it's closer to Granada and The Alhambra than Malaga is. You have to go to The Alhambra once at least.

Ibiza

They need to have more to do than go to the beach all day and the clubs all night. We did not see a lot of interesting stuff, but it might have been just our visit date and tour guide.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

A much nicer stop than Ibiza. We had a nice tour that included much of the island. We'd like to come back here too.

Barcelona

We would have been unhappy with only one day here, so we stayed four days at the end of the cruise. Definitely worth a return trip!
