My sister took us on an Alaska cruise (thanks sis). We chose the Luminosa over the Spirit. Hindsight says we probably made a mistake. This was the first sailing of the Luminosa from Seattle, 4 May 2023
The Good: The food in the dining room was about as good what we've received on every other Carnival ship we've been on. The wait staff was attentive. The cruise director and "Fun Squad" were great. The entertainment, except for the two "comedians" who boarded for the last half of the cruise was good. Our cabin steward was attentive and always available. Our Cabin, a rear facing extended balcony on deck 8 was roomy and well laid out. The glass shower doors were a welcome relief from shower curtains.
The Bad: The Lido deck food. With the exception of the lido deck pizza, omelette, and sandwich stations the food was below average to poor. Limited selection, long lines, rather bland taste. The BBQ station was slow and the food below average. The sandwich station was manned by one lady who was doing her best but couldn't keep up with demand. I waited 30 minutes to order a BLT and they were out of their large bread so I got it on regular sandwich bread out of a prepackaged loaf. No sweet spot with cakes and pastries like other carnival ships. Instead you get little pieces of sheet cake about 2/3 the size of your sail and sign card and pastries very similar to what you will find at the breakfast at a mid priced motel. We knew there was no Pig and Anchor or Guys Burger Joint (pity). The burger stand they did have served rather tasteless burgers.
As per above. Sufficient size, lots of storage space; we had three adults in an aft extended balcony. Clean but could use a bit of work, note the broke door bumper as mentioned above.
