We chose this cruise to try the NCL brand, the itinerary, and felt at the time, it was a good price. We enjoyed the size of our cabin and the view. We were in an accessible cabin (137** forward) due to my husband having mobility issues. With that being said, we were too far from the elevators and with items almost always left in the narrow hallways, my husband had to fold up his walker many times to get down the halls l to and from the room. The items in the way were cleaning carts, laundry bags, and sometimes walkers and scooters of other passengers. Staff was very nice but did not go over and above as I have experienced on Carnival and Holland America. Attention to detail was not there. The main show, Burn the Floor, only played 2 nights for this 10 day cruise and was fully booked the entire time. We were able to see about a 20 min mini show during dinner one night at the Tropicana. Great dancers! They should have this show available at least 5 nights for a 10 day cruise. Did not see the Million Dollar Quartet, but heard it was a good show. The mentalist show was a joke. Really a snoozer. The one guy show that did Elton John songs was a very good singer and pianist, but with it just being him on stage in the big theater, the show lacked pizazz. Needed a ome back up singers or dancers. Something. Was a little boring, especially if you’re an Elton John fan. The nightly events like the 80’s party, White Out party, and Afterglow party, to name a few, all started at 10 and 10:30 pm. No other options. I’m not old. Mid 40’s and love to have fun, but come on. If your after dinner shows are booked, people need stuff to do without having to wait until 10 pm. Just not well thought out. Wifi is way too expensive and didn’t work properly all the time. Even the app, which you still have to pay $10 just to be able to text/call people in your group, didn’t work a lot of the time. Wait staff was very nice, but no attention to detail. Had to ask for things more than once and even had to ask who our waiter was one night because when we asked for our drinks from the person that took our order and brought our appetizers, the person said they’d tell our waiter that never ended up coming, so we asked someone else and they said they were not our waiter but would tell someone else. It was nuts! I ended up asking someone who looked like they had a little authority who our waiter was so we could get proper service. Meaning we just needed our drinks along with our food. Nothing extravagant. Lastly, the food was okay, but again, nothing over the top in the complimentary restaurants. Carnival is not really known for having the best food, even though we have had no complaints at all, but it was better than what we had on this cruise. I feel that they save the really great menus for the up charge restaurants. I felt we were nickel and dimed for every little thing. Disembarkation itself was fine, but getting your luggage was a circus! Our blue tagged luggage was mixed up in the red tagged luggage. No alphabetical order. Just good luck finding it. No signs or instructions. Complete chaos.
Not sure if the problem was the ship , port, or the brand, but with this being our first NCL cruise, unfortunately it will most likely be our last. Just was not impressed. We are middle class people and do not expect any special treatment of any kind. We believe that being kind and patient in all circumstances is a must. However, when you have cruised multiple times, there is a level of service one does expect, especially for the hard earned money one has spent for this luxury. Carnival and Holland America, we will see you again very soon!
Hope this review helps in some way.
Great size and view!
