We chose to do the Prague pre-cruise extension. While the weather wasn't the best (chilly, some rain) we felt this was the best part of the trip. We met 7 awesome people that we ended up socializing, eating meals with and in our same tour group the whole trip.! I truly believe we were meant to do this just to meet these friends which we know will be life long. The architecture , history and cleanliness of the city made Prague a beautiful city that I would recommend to anyone. it was also the last week of the Easter market and we picked up some lovely handmade gifts.
There were some villages on the cruise that we enjoyed more than others and the Viking guides do a good job of narrating albeit some better than others. We learned so much history that my husband and I got home and starting doing research and looking for shows to educate us more about where we had been.
We also did the Budapest post cruise and while I can say it was an interesting city but...Someone said Prague is prettier at night than it is in the day and I'd have to agree. We took the optional trip to the small village of Hollko and this made up for everything. The hotel was the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in but they couldn't seem to get the temperature right. It stayed at 75 degrees the whole time. They offered to move us, but we had our luggage strewn all over to pack for home. There is a beautiful spa which Viking doesn't tell you about , nor do they tell you they will give you a token to get in free.Luckily I had done some research and we brought our bathing suites.
