Booked a transatlantic fm NYC to Rome. The ship (Breakaway) is in need to major cleaning and updating. Food in complimentary restaurants, while plentiful, is bland and not usually very hot. Specialty restaurants a little better, but meals can take up to 3 hrs to complete. Even specialty menus are limited and not enticing. Onboard entertainment mediocre, don’t expect broadway quality talent. Cruise staff activities are with overly crowded (dance classes) or ghost towns (games and trivia). Lots of add-on costs one onboard (port taxes on drinks). Port times rushed (late getting in and late getting out at every port but one. Onboard customer service not helpful with any issue/concern. Even cabin steward was less friendly and attentive than on other ships. Highlight was the Starbucks staff.

Worst excursion was San Gimigano out of Livorno. Bus ride 1 1/5 hrs, then only allowed 40 min to explore on our own. It was a 10 min walk to and from the bus parking lot, so that left 20 min to explore the entire town . The description on NCL website said we would have time to ‘meander’ and explore this UNESCO site. There was NO time for meandering

Save yourself and don’t book on this ship

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Super small. Our shower had to be repaired in the 2nd day. The balcony was only wide enough for 1 chair and 1 person.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Wonderful port. Make sure and visit Park Gruel and Sagrada Familia
