My sister and I chose this cruise because of the destinations, mainly Barcelona and Rome. Every port was interesting and beautiful and the tours we took were very well organized. The Viking Sky was able to dock at each port and we didn’t have to take the time tendering. The ship is beautiful, clean and the service was excellent by every crew member we interacted with. It was nice to have different restaurants to choose from especially since our schedule was different every day and we liked the option of grabbing a quick meal. My only complaint is that on the last day in Rome, we were told to meet in the lobby at 7am but when I showed up at that time there was no one there! I ran outside to find the Viking guide, the travelers and the luggage had already gone across the street to the bus. Also, we were told there would be a sack lunch, but there were no sack lunches in the lobby and after the bus took off another traveler told us that they had to go to the restaurant to pick up a sack lunch. I think the Viking guide should have told us that, but she was busy talking to the bus driver and never talked to us at all.

Cabin Review

The cabin was very nice, however the aisle at the foot of the beds was not wide enough for my sister and I to pass each other. The bathroom was roomy and well-designed. Our room steward, Clark, was excellent and was responsive to our needs and kept our cabin clean and tidy. We enjoyed looking out our sliding glass door when sailing into ports in the mornings.

Port Reviews

Marseille

I enjoyed the scenic bus ride to Cassis and the boat tour of Calanques National Park. The boat captain was good about turning the boat in different directions when we stopped at scenic points so we could all get good photos without a lot of heads in the way. I would have liked more time to explore the town of Cassis; it looked wonderful. Unfortunately we only had time for a quick cappuccino and restroom stop.
