We were attracted to this cruise because of the itinerary. Our cabin , 107**, was very good and so was the service provided by our cabin steward. The overall food quality was fair at best and the beef was consistently tough and chewy, even in the specialty restaurants. The service in the main dining restaurants, especially The Versailles Restaurant , was exceptionally poor to the extent that we stopped eating there. We purchased several tours from Norwegian Shore Excursions. A purchased tour to Granada which included A Flamenco Show and Free Time was excellent. A purchased tour to Monaco and MonteCarlo was disorganized and disappointing. The Norwegian Star’s shore excursions staff , in my opinion, did a very poor job in resolving the issues surrounding this Monaco MonteCarlo Fiasco. Even worse than the Monaco / MonteCarlo was the trip to Venice. From the ship to Venice is a 1.5 hour tender ride. The tender dropped passengers off at the now abandoned former cruise dock . From the drop off location and at a cost of 25 euro per person one can travel to St. Marks Square ( provided you know where to go and how to use the public water transport) in about 1 hour. The return trip required passengers to go through a very long security checkpoint line . In total it took approximately 6 + hours of travel time just to go round trip from the ship to St.Marks Square ! We have returned to Florida with fond memories of good times in Naples, Florence, and Rome because of the private limo service we purchased from RomeInLimo. The RomeInLimo drivers were English Speaking and superb in their ability to proudly show us the most interesting and beautiful parts of Italy. We also purchased private tour guides from RomeInLimo for Pompeii and The Vatican. The guides did an amazing job in having us experience the best of Pompeii and The Vatican without having to deal with crowds . I just can not say enough good things about RomeInLimo except to say that I will contract with them whenever I return to Italy ,
