We decided we really wanted to see what the hype was when it came to Royal and the amazing things we’ve heard from fellow cruisers and online research, boy was it a let down.
For a ship this size, it has the smallest venues for restaurants and bars! We’ve been on smaller boats that have had larger venues and water view restaurants. All most all the restaurants don’t have views of the water so you can enjoy a sunset while you dine, very disappointing. Food was mediocre at best at specialty restaurants (Jamie’s, Izumi and Chops) We ordered the short rib at Jamie’s, and it was basically flavorless pot roast… hibachi was mediocre with flavor and slow service… Chops had excellent service and good cuts of meat but lacked in flavor. We opted for the buffet most meals and it was decent. Best meal was at Johnny Rockets on the last night. Hot and fresh! Sad we waited to try it!
We were on deck 8 and the smell in the hallway was constant and smelled of sewage and moldy basement. Cabin thankfully was clean and no smell. Our attendant Ketut was a sweetheart! Always greeting us by name and with a warm smile!
