We chose an Oceania cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary and our first trip to the Mediterranean because we loved the itinerary and felt it would be a great way to experience the area. We spent a couple of days in Venice before the cruise and one day in Barcelona after which was a lot of fun! Full disclosure, I started feeling bad on the disembarkation day and subsequently tested positive for Covid when we got home. In no way would this keep us from taking another cruise. We know the risks of illness are present on any vacation.

We loved being able to visit so many places we had never been! We bought 6 bottles of wine on board to enjoy in our stateroom. Doing this helped us keep our alcohol purchases pretty low during the cruise. Embarkation was very smooth and efficient and the ship is beautiful! We felt the crew and service aboard the ship were top notch! Our cabin steward Luka was so wonderful! We staying in cabin 90** A2 concierge verandah. It was by far the nicest cruise cabin we have ever stayed in. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfortable, and this size cabin is perfect for a couple. Love the huge shower and amount of storage in the bathroom! The concierge lounge was on our deck and we went there often to grab extra beverages. Also took advantage of the free laundry facilities. We are 52 and 55 years old and did notice we were among the youngest of couples. We did not go to any onboard entertainment options. We tried the high tea once and it was nice. It was nice to sit in Horizons and enjoy the view as we left the port that day.

On our first night, we dined at Jacques which was very good. They even brought out a mini cake with happy anniversary written on it for us and our server sang a song to me (it was kind of cheesy, but he sang Endless Love! Very thoughtful!) Our favorite specialty dining was Red Ginger. Amazing food and I highly recommend the sea bass! Polo Grill and Toscana were also very enjoyable with Toscana being our least favorite of the specialty dining venues. The only dining venue we were not super impressed in was the main dining room. We felt that the Terrace cafe had better variety. Get the lobster and shrimp at the Terrace cafe! Yum! We also enjoyed the Waves grill for lunch. We liked getting cappuccinos at Baristas and had a light breakfast there one morning. I entered a drawing at the spa for a gift card on a whim (you had to be present to win) and I actually won! I used the gift card for a facial. The facial was ok, nothing special and they did try to sell me over-priced products. I did not take the bait, LOL. Would I pay full price for the spa? Nope, as I feel cruise ship spas are ridiculously over-priced. The Wi-Fi on the ship is terrible! Oceania needs to improve on this. We feel that one log in per stateroom is inadequate. Should have one log in for each adult. Just our opinion.
