I chose this cruise because it was a trans-Atlantic cruise on Celebrity's new ship Beyond, and it stopped in Lisbon and Cadiz. I was interested in seeing Seville again, and I had never been to Lisbon.
Let me start with the bad. There was no assigned dining. There were 4 dining rooms to chose from every night. We had to stand in line for each dining room and wait to be assigned a table. The wait staff seemed confused much of the time, and there was often a long wait to get served. We seldom had the same servers. We were never at the same table or with the same dinner mates. One night we were seated with a man who couldn't speak because of a cold and was coughing a lot. When we got home at the end of the cruise, and my wife and I were both sick and tested positive for COVID. Not a fun experience. The dining experience and getting sick was the worst part of the cruise.
The main stage in the theater was fantastic. I have never seen a theater like this on any ship. I enjoyed every show. Very impressive.
The mid-ship state room was nice and clean with the new Infinite Veranda. The infinite veranda was very different, but it was okay. The king size bed was great. The toilet/shower was great also. Our stateroom attendant was very good.'
We spent 3 nights before the cruise in a very nice hotel we had booked through Celebrity. Barcelona is an interesting city. I first visited Barcelona when I was in the Navy in 1964.
