my cousin and myself chose to do a Hawaiian cruise and NCL are the only cruise line to do Honolulu to Honolulu. we have both cruised on Princess, Holland America and myself on Carnival cruises. so are well versed in cruising. embarkation was smooth and was on ship by 11am. were not allowed to access our cabin until 3.30pm and luggage not delivered til 6.30pm. long day!! the ship appeared tired and worn. when we finally accessed our balcony cabin were amazed at how small it was, there was approx 30 cm between the end of the beds & the cabin wall. not much room to move around. the twin beds were small, easy to fall out of, no towelling robes and bathroom very small, couldn't bend over in the shower, no room at all!!! not sure we had a cabin steward, never saw anyone. also cabin serviced morning only, no turn down at night or check to replentish towels. only thing the cabin had going for it, was a balcony, which was very small too!! but we could sit out on it. the main dining room food was average, only ended up having one meal there, (which we didnt enjoy) the buffet while lots of variety was average in quality and taste. the sweets (cakes) were unappetising and not a lot of variety. no one could have a decent coffee as the espresso machine was broken the whole 7 days. 2 of the reastaurants were shut for the whole cruise as well. think hey were short of crew! the only decent meal we had was in the Teppanyaki restaurant and that was delicious!! ony 1 pool area and that of course was taken over by children, even the hot tubs. the outdoor food area where you could get hot dogs, burgers etc was only open from 1 - 5 pm.........very poor!!!! there were 3 shops on the ship , jeweller, gift & clothes, all very expensive. the tours were expensive as well. but we were happy doing our own thing at each port. entertainment was average as well. my cousin and myself spent more time sitting on our balcony reading than partaking in the activities onboard as they were poor. all in all wouldn't recommend this cruise to anyone.

Port Reviews

Maui

pretty island but hard to get around if not on a tour

Hilo

lovely port, again difficult to see anything unless you were on a ship tour, there was a free shuttle into the town area

Kona (Kailua Bay)

was able to get around the town quite easily and there was a free shuttle

Kauai

easy access to shopping, not far from ship, but to see island you had to do the tours from the ship, nothing offered off the ship
