We booked this cruise because we needed a relaxing getaway. We had a great time apart from a couple of minor irritations.
This was our third cruise with RCI, and we had even travelled on Quantum of the Seas back in 2018 (see my review of that cruise here: https://www.cruisecritic.com.au/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=606582) Fortunately for us this was a very different experience!
The point of embarkation in Pinkenba is pretty remote from everything. We were lucky that a local family member agreed to drop us off, otherwise a taxi fare from anywhere else would have cost $$$.
We stayed in cabin 115**, a "Spacious Ocean View" (4M) category. This cabin was directly below the bridge, overlooking the bow of the ship. As the bow is a restricted area, we didn't have to worry about anyone seeing in through the window most of the time, so that gave us a pleasant sense of seclusion. However, the layout of the cabin was a bit odd - two cupboards, a sofa, a desk and a chest of drawers were all squashed up nearest the door. The bed was close to the middle of the cabin, and getting to the other side required edging sideways across the bottom of the bed, trying not to collide with the TV on the wall. But then on the other side of the bed was...just one armchair, occupying perhaps a third of the cabin's floor space. I guess it would be a great setup for a couple who really wanted lots of space for their yoga mats??? As it was, the armchair was a lovely place to sit and read while watching the ocean, but the utility of the space could have been much better with another chair and maybe a coffee table. There would still have been space for yoga.
