I am just back from a fantastic 5 day Easter Weekend cruise on Britannia which is my second sailing on her, having sailed Britannia in 2021. Although I have had a great cruise I feel P&O are completely neglecting Britannia and all the money has been pumped into Arvia and Iona. She really does need some TLC but most importantly a HUGE focus on cleanliness.
On my last sailing I had no complaints, it was perfect. However fast forward just a few years and P&O have cut cut and cut so the Ship is tired, understaffed and neglected. These are all fixable but most importantly the cleanliness needs to be focused on NOW! Shelves in Library caked in dust, toilets not cleaned properly, mirrors smudged from day one and never cleaned, balconies filthy, cabins not vacuumed.. the list goes on. Yes it was a cheap cruise, Yes P&O are making cuts to keep fares low but basic housekeeping is essential.
Aside from this, the food remained very high standard and entertainment was very good. We dined at Epicurean where cut backs are sadly evident (pay more get less). Shindu was wonderful and Glasshouse food was delicious.. even though it was a long wait to get our food. As for the MDR.. every dish was perfect. Thankfully we were on set dining as I hear freedom dining was a nightmare.
I loved my cabin (L2**) it was really cosy, nice comfy bed (single) and in a great location for Crows Nest, Library and lido deck.
