I am incredibly disappointed with HAL. I have traveled multiple times with this line and was always delighted.
That is not the case with my recent sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Cleanliness was not a priority. In my cabin room, debris, old contacts, and gooey stuff were left in the trashcan, the bathroom floor wasn't clean, and neither was the area around the sink. The countertops in the stateroom were dusty. The balcony was filthy. I cleaned the areas myself upon arrival.
Two of the shore excursions weren't as advertised, and no one on the ship addressed the issue when the complaint was raised. The excuse was they couldn't guarantee the descriptions would match the experience. Really?

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

The issue was brought up to our cabin steward's manager and she said he was overworked.
