We wanted to do a quick and reasonably priced cruise with friends. In hindsight, we should have booked something outside the reach of spring break. The boat was pretty much a floating Chuck E Cheese with kids of all ages running amok. One performer even stopped his act and had a kid move to sit next to his parents and told them “he’s your problem and not mine”. This was pretty indicative of the whole cruise as almost all venues were either catering to (think 4-5 year olds performing karaoke in Boleros) or over run with unattended kids such as the Schooner Bar. There are so many venues for kids on these boats that it’s strange they’re allowed so much access to what are typically adult areas. Unsupervised kids were also literally riding the elevators up and down as entertainment. Our room, food and most of our drinks were just fine otherwise. There were a couple staffers that were not so cheerful but this may have something to do with my gripes as well. Just be mindful of your booking - the cruise line won’t offend nor police unsupervised kids.
The balcony room and shower were a wee bit tight but otherwise fine. Bed was comfortable and for a shorter trip storage was more than enough.
We had an extra day in Cozumel as we couldn’t dock in Costa Maya. We actually enjoyed this as we spent one day at an inclusive beach club and toured around the other. Cozumel is beautiful.
