We chose to cruise on Viking because of their reputation. This was our first time cruising with them and it won't be our last. We loved this cruise line!!! If you need to be entertained with activities like games and exercises every day, this cruise line is not for you. We enjoyed presentations about how to take better pictures, which you wouldn't think would be something you'd want to attend, but was great! I learned so many things on how to take better pictures with my phone. It really helped when we got to see the Northern Lights and took pictures of them - they turned out great! We also had presentations about the ports where we were stopping. And there were more presentations, too.
Entertainment was wonderful! There was a band and a Viking singing quartet that did multiple shows. There were also a couple of pianists - one was very traditional, one was also very good and leaned a little toward the comedic side. We had a great singer/guitarist, a couple of singers (great), a violinist, etc. Pretty much music multiple times a day every day.
The food was phenomenal! There were 2 restaurants you could attend every day, plus the pool grill (great burgers). There was an Italian specialty restaurant, Manfredi's, and The Chef's Table (a chef specialty restaurant). You needed reservations for the specialty restaurants but there was no charge. Another thing I liked about the dining was that there were many tables for two. A lot of time I don't want to eat with strangers - introverts are like that. It was nice to have a table for two so my husband and I could eat together.
Our cabin was very spacious. We had a balcony, which we used once (too cold). The bathroom was quite large. The shower was standard size and the shower head was adjustable both in height and in amount of spray. The shower head was also easily hand held. There was tons of storage, too. Suitcases easily went under the bed. There were drawers in the closet and also next to the bathroom door. The nightstands also had a storage cubbie. There was a desk in the room with a top that opened up into a lighted mirror and plenty of room for make-up and hair stuff. Awesome! A blow dryer is in the room and both European and US outlets are included. This was an easy room to live in for a 12-13 day cruise.
