We had been on a Viking river cruise and enjoyed it so decided to try their ocean cruises. I've been on seven cruises now and would say the Viking ocean experience is only so-so (except for the food which was really quite good). No better than any of the other four lines we've been on really. Talked with other passengers who felt the same.

The wine-by-the-glass choices were mediocre, the premium spirits were locked up in Torshavn until 9:00, the entertainment was uninspired, and the lectures got old.

The cabins were good but no better than other cruise lines. The pool was OK, but too deep to stand up in for an average person (5'10" deep). The hot tub was offline for the entire 14 night cruise. The service was good most nights but had bumbling staff in the main dining room. Viking's prices are higher than average so I was expecting a higher-than-average experience. Not so.
