Sail Date: Feb 2023

I did 2 Antarctica cruises in 2023 and will do 2 more to the Arctic in the Fall because the Vega experience was simply the best because of several reasons.

1. The Vega is new, christened in June 2022. It is small, 150 passengers, and is beautifully appointed. Cabins are spacious with lots of storage, and public areas are first-rate: swimming pool, sauna, large living room/meeting room, dining room, etc. The "base camp" where we put on our boots and boarded the zodiacs was well organized and our boots were dry every morning. The staff were exceptionally kind, competent and professional in meeting all our wishes and needs.

2. The expedition guides were extraordinary, several with global expedition experience. Their knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm combined with the ship captain's experience, and the small size of the ship allowed us to navigate small areas and straits and land at remote places. They constantly pored over weather maps to avoid bad weather and seas. One day, we made 3 zodiac trips to take advantage of favorable conditions.
