Sail Date: Mar 2023
Cabin: Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

We grandparents joined our son and his wife and four daughters for this fun cruise aboard NCL Escape over Spring Break 2023.

Ship In General: This is a very large ship, and is well kept. Very clean. It is not what I would call a beautiful ship. Doesn’t have a lot of wow factor interior spaces, but has multiple very nice included dining venues, many entertainment venues, and many extra charge dining options. The Waterfront on Deck 8 has great outside areas to sit all around that deck. Deck 7 outside has a very fun shuffleboard area tucked away on one side.

Dining: We had sailed on NCL several times in the mid 2000’s and the included food was some of the worst we had experienced. Now however the food in Taste, Savor, and the Manhattan Room (all providing food at no extra charge) was really good, and high quality. There seems to be a heavy emphasis on food quality and organization in the dining areas, with multiple management people overseeing everything. One of our waiters, Daniel from Zimbabwe, was an absolute delight. We saw him several times around the ship. The lido restaurant, called The Garden Cafe, was well run with good food. They had cracked egg (vs that liquid pour ) omelettes available if you asked for them. Try a mushroom, cheese, onion, and jalapeño one!! Bacon was great up there. And the Indian food was very nice. We dined at Teppanyaki one night and the quality of meats surpassed any hibachi restaurant on land. Really good shrimp and scallops, although might need to get them to cook scallops slightly longer. One of mine was a little undercooked.
