Having read some of the previous reviews I was a bit nervous about taking part in what was an expensive holiday for us. Adding to the concerns were the problems with arranging flights back to UK from Japan - Silverseas obviously work to a limited budget and it took several attempts to find a flight that didnt require over 24 hours travel, crossing Tokyo in a couple of hours one side to the other to take flight within 4 hours, three flights to get us back to the UK, and so it went on.

Our flight from the UK to Tokyo and on to Osaka went without a hitch. We were booked into the Regency Hyatt in Osaka for one night before joining the ship. Oh dear! I have travelled a lot in my time and have never been to such a bad Hyatt hotel. We arrived tired and hungry after a very long journey to find that we should have booked a table for the Italian restaurant, I mean! Normally hotels have a variety of restaurants and room service, not this hotel. We did eventually find something to eat before going to bed. The hotel didnt have a coffee area either, and talking to other guests about to join the ship they had had the same experience.

Dear reader, you could understand how concerned we were before joining the ship, just wondering what we had let ourselves in for. Thank goodness we could not have wished for better service from the ship's staff, excellent food and wine and a lovely suite to enjoy for our two week cruise around japan.
