We scheduled this cruise on the spur of the moment when we received a flash sale email. It was our first Viking cruise and it couldn't have gone better. The fact that the Polaris was only 1/3 full gave the ship a kind of surreal atmosphere (we wonder what it would be like with a full compliment of guests). Reservations at the specialty restaurants were easy to get, excursions were easily scheduled and the personal attention from the crew was tremendous.

We had a Deluxe Nordic Balcony. It had plenty of room, the heated drying closet for our expedition gear was a great plus, and the enormous picture window made viewing the fjords, mountains and glaciers a constant pleasure. TV and music selections were a little limited but so what?! This wasn't a cruise for channel surfing! Special shout out to Robi and Jenny who took care of us and our cabin. They are the best!

The food was terrific. Essentially you could have anything you wanted and it was all well-prepared and well-presented. The Restaurant and Manfredi's were great additional options. Gotta say...whoever makes the soups in the World Cafe is a culinary genius! Service in all three locations was uniformly outstanding.
