Don't be frightened by this review. If you have already booked, you will not have a bad time on this cruise ship. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. HOWEVER, if you have not already booked, I suggest you consider another ship.

The QM2 is aging and due for a re-ft later this year. There's a lot of rust and stains around deck, in restaurants and our cabin. It clearly shows the wear from all those trans-Atlantic crossings.

And of the 20+ ships I've sailed on, the QM2 is easily the worst laid out ship I've ever seen. We continually got lost, even towards the end of the nine-night Australian cruise.

Cabin Review

Penthouse

The Queens Grill (QG) suite is large with a comfortable bed and loads of storage space. In addition to the walk-in closet, there are two other closets. We had more than enough room for everything. Our butler made sure we had all the extra hangers we needed. We fit four suitcases under the bed, giving us plenty of room to move around.

The suite has a fantastic service bar and our butler replenished it daily. The mini fridge had all the soft drinks and beer we needed and the two bottles of liquor that come with QG suites were in my room by the first night. When I blew threw a bottle of vodka the butler replaced that too. Canapes arrived nightly, as we were dressing for dinner.

The bathroom was well stocked, and had a combination shower/spa tub. It loses points because it does not have double sinks, just one.

The balcony also loses points. It has two chairs and a table, but only one ottoman and no lounger. Only one of us could put their feet up at the same time. The rail-window was dirty and stained (that aging ocean liner thing). Again, the top suites on a cruise ship should offer more.

Port Reviews

Adelaide

Adelaide is difficult to reach from the port. There is nothing to do around the port without taking transportation somewhere.

Kangaroo Island

There ws enough to do in Kangaroo Island to satisfy, even if you did not do a shore ecursion.

Sydney (Australia)

Ship docked at Circular Quay just steps from all the activity. Harbor Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Ferries, restaurants, cafes, museums are all right there!
