Great spacious cabin.  Wish they had put in a couch or table in the extra space, but nice to have that space!

The “Taino Bay” port is very nice and sure different from our visit 35+ years ago.  A pool, lazy river, and lots of lounge chairs are available for use.  There are tons of shops.  DW saw a hat she liked at one shop for $25 but we held off to shop some more.
We reached the end of the port complex, and a taxi salesperson convinced us to take a tour of the city for $25 each, in our own vehicle.  Our driver was Orlando, and he was less than engaging.  We enjoyed seeing the different parts of town, with the highlight certainly being the stop at the Del Oro organic Dominican cocoa chocolate factory.  We were greeted there with a brownie and hot chocolate, showed a brief video of their chocolate production (the majority of which is done by hand!) and then took us through the process.
Naturally we ended in their gift shop and we found their home made chocolate cost essentially the same as Hershey’s would back home.  We ended up buying two boxes of chocolate, a hat for Cheryl (similar to the hat at the port but for $15) and a few beverages.  Our friends also made a number of purchases.  Next we stopped at a beach with multiple restaurants.  We took a few photos but certainly did not want the chocolate sitting in a hot vehicle so then we headed back to the port arriving at 12:30.
It was quite a walk back to the ship so we certainly got our steps in. 

So we just walked the port, did a little shopping, and headed back to the ship where we enjoyed the Solarium pool.By the time we were done it was 12:45 so we headed to the water taxi to go back to the ship, reboarding a little after 1:00.
