Unlike so many reviews I read, we had a great time and had great service on Norwegian Epic. Yes, the ship and cabins have a somewhat strange layout, we experienced none of the issues that those who reviewed this ship recently had. Food in the main dining rooms and Le Bistro were very good (Le Bistro was excellent) as was the food on the buffet. We were in a standard balcony cabin, which was small but everything worked well. The bathroom arrangement wasn't ideal, but I can't imagine it would be easy to re-imagine the toilet/shower arrangement considering the overall lay out. Our cabin attendant kept everything clean for us and stocked.
There are issues with navigating (pun intended) the ship, and avoiding dead-ends. And like most ships, there are challenging areas where the people get bunched up unnecessarily. Pools are small, but there are three of them.
We were blessed with very good weather, our embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly, and with the exception of one waiter at breakfast in the Taste dining room the staff was extremely friendly and just nice. Joyce at Guest Services went out of her way to help when I realized I had not arranged transfer from the ship to the airport, and Joyce in Taste at breakfast on Saturday was really sweet. Maybe people named Joyce are just nice? We also ate at Teppanyaki and Joel our chef was cute as a button!
Odd layout, but serviceable and comfortable for two people.
