I was disappointed in the overall way that things have changed, not for the better, since my last cruise on Brilliance. Several things stood out and these are why I gave several lower grades. The food was not what I expected, especially in the Minstrel Dining Room. Portions of vegetables were very small in most cases (one piece of broccoli?). Cuts of meat were thin and tough. In general at the Minstrel, dinners were not nearly top quality as in previous cruises. The specialty night dinners were an improvement over the regular menu. The Mexican Night was very good with unusual choices. Next: The ship itself is looking pretty blah. Stateroom furniture is old and dingy in some cases. The cleaning crews are doing their jobs but after awhile cushions get flat, beds as well. Railings that once were varnished are bare. The overall upkeep is not the problem. The problem is the lack of detail and a willingness by RC to put some cash in ships that aren't behemoths. A prime example of what I mean is on the entrance way to the Schooner bar there is a display of bags of coffee depicting the geography. The last time I was on the Brilliance in 2019 and before that in 2017 that exact display was there. I know this because I took pictures of the coffee bags. I have family with the same last name as some of this coffee. Does no one notice this? Six years this same area has sat there! This ship needs an overhaul. I heard numerous complaints about the condition of staterooms. The crew was a bright spot. These folks were exactly what I have always complimented over the years. We sail out of Tampa because it is easy for us to get to. I will never sail on Brilliance again if things don't change.
We like Key West. Not any place I would settle in but it is a pleasant stop for a day.
