My husband and I chose this Azamara Journey West Africa cruise starting on 4th March 2023 from Cape Town to Walvis Bay Namibia, Luanda Angola, Takoradi Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madeira and Lisbon on account of the stops in the African ports.

We have sailed a lot with other cruise companies like Holland America, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian but this was our first Azamara cruise and also our first cruise since the pandemic. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews of the Journey but my fears were totally unfounded. This was the best cruise ship we have ever been on for food and service. It was five star absolutely no question of it.

The entertainment programme was more modest not in the league of say Holland America with their BB King's, Billboard and and Lincoln Centre though I don't know if the pandemic will have changed that offering. It must be borne in mind that the Journey is a much smaller ship and on this cruise there were only 580 on board.
