Sail Date: Mar 2023
Cabin: Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

This sailing was titled "In Search of the Northern Lights." Embarked in UK and Debarked in Bergen Norway. All flights, transfers were handled by Viking in a professional manner. The staff of the ship in every department were exceptional. Customer focused.

DINING

The ship has 2 specialty dining options, Chefs Tale and Manfredi's. Unfortunately when you do early booking for Chefs Table, you do not know the menu. It changed every 3 days in a sequence of Asian/British/Scandinavia/Indian for this particular trip. We ended up with the Asian menu and to be fair it would not have been our first choice. Manfredi's menu was the same for the cruise and the food was excellent. TRAVEL TIP -- pre-booking either of these dining options is based on your cabin class, therefore, check your account at least 1 day before the window opens for reservations. Viking actually opened our window a day early without telling us so the reservations were booked out. As an alternative, if you were guaranteed 1 reservation in each of these venues call Viking directly. ON the ship, recommend you recheck availability every day with the dining rep by the World Cafe during the lunch hours. Also, you can check with the hostess at each venue when they open at 6 pm. We found that doing this on board let us dine at Manfredi's multiple times during the cruise.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

Excellent cabin. Deck 6 , mid-ship. Great service. Travel Tip -- since this is a winter cruise and you will be bringing more than normal with you, suggest you consider using luggage cubes for at least one of yourselves (See ebags.com). adequate storage for a normal weather cruise but you will find not enough for all of the typical winter items you may be bringing.
