On our journey in Search of the Northern Lights, we were redirected by hurricane-force winds, the threat of an avalanche and had overcast skies much of the time. Our intrepid Captain rerouted us to safer ports and scenic fjord-lined channels to other ports of call. The staff worked tirelessly to set up excursions in our unexpected ports of call. The food and the service was superior.

We had one clear night to see the Northern Lights, and it was wonderful.

Our ports changed, but we were still able to go into the Arctic Circle and we enjoyed a ceremony on the ship to commemorate that. Those who wanted to donned swimsuits, entered the ice water hot tub and emerged to be wrapped in a towel and enjoy a drink in a fluted glass. Okay, I thought it was champagne, but it was Aquavit--a much stronger drink.
