We choose this cruise because of the convenience of the port of San Diego for our 1st cruise on the Disney Cruise Line. Previously we have only cruised one other time on the NCL Pride of America in Hawaii, many years ago. This sailing we sailed without children. We drove over from the Phoenix area on Saturday, the day before the cruise, and started vacation with a visit with friends. We picked a later embarkation time of 2 pm purposefully to hopefully avoid large crowds and was perfect, we walked through each station and directly onto the ship, carrying our own bags, then straight into our room. The rotating dining was wonderful with such variety of food each night and such careful attention from the staff on our dietary allergies. The buffett had a vast selection and particularly enjoyed the focused cuisine of the day. The desserts were one of my favorites. We enjoyed the music trivia, bingo, and of course the nightly shows. We expected Disney would put on amazing entertainment and were not disappointed. The 2 ports of call were Catalina Island which we explored on our own, and Ensenada where again we explored on our own, though we only briefly walked through the harbor area. We would definitely try another Disney cruise, though likely not on the Wonder again as I understand that the shows and entertainment are the same for each sailing.
The bed was lovely, very comfortable, not too firm which was just perfect for me. Our cabin location was perfect, at the beginning of the hallway, and very quiet. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony especially as the ship was docking. The area at the foot of the bed was very snug to walk past.
We walked around on our own, walking up to the Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Garden. Then back into town for browsing the shopping district. There were golf carts for rent, though require cash in hand.
