When we arrived in Grand Cayman, it was a bit overcast. However, from the tender, that didn't matter with the brilliance of the water. The island itself was modern. If it weren't for the fact that they drive on the opposite side of the road, and the sign that said "Cayman runs on Dunkin," I could have been in Florida. 
We had reserved a Stingray City tour with Moby Dick tours because of all the great reviews we read hear on cruise critic. All the reviews held true, we had an excellent experience! Mark from Moby Dick tours, worked hard to get us all going before the cruise ship tours arrived at the sand bar. We boarded the old school bus (which had AC!) and made our way to the dock to get on the boat. The boat was adequate. It had plenty of seatting, a bathroom, and a shower. They had water and lemonade for everyone when you got thirsty. On the way to the sandbar, the explained how to safely interact with the rays. They showed, using a toy ray, the differences between male and female, and exactly where the barb is located. When we arrived at the sandbar, some of the tour guys got off the boat first to start getting the rays over. The water was shallow and calm. I felt uncomfortable with the rays at first, but with a little help from the tour staff, I felt much better. I noticed other tour groups, whose staff remained on the boat leaving them to fend for themselves. Moby Dick tours remains in the water the entire time. 
Our next stop on the tour was a short ride away at a shallow reef for snorkeling. The water was about 8 feet deep. As soon as you jumped into the water we were surrounded by fish. It was a bit windy, so the water was choppy. I didn't snorkel long as I had tired fast. Someone then got stung by a jelly fish. THe staff helped her onto the boat to assess the severity of the sting. They broke out their supplies and fixed her right up. They warned everyone else and called everyone back to the boat. They were nice enough to make a call to the other tour companies that jellyfish were present at the reef to prevent others getting stung. 
If I decided to go to Stingray City again, I would definitely choose Moby Dick tours. 


Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

This island of Cozumel and the country of Mexico have done a great job with the cruise ship terminal. The buildings are what you would expect when in Mexico. There were many interesting shops selling handmade goods, there was a leather shop, a place to try tequila, and of course some typical tourist trap places like Fat Tuesdays. We however, wanted to visit a beach. There is no beach within walking distance of the pier, so, we took a taxi. The taxi stand was helpful. It lists all the places to go and how much it is to get there so there is no surprise when getting out of the cab. The cab drivers are also very knowledgeable about the places, and can tell you what to expect. After talking with the taxi driver, we decided upon Play Uvos, and all inclusive beach area that was part of the national reef park. For $24 each, we had beach chairs, and umbrella, unlimited use of snorkeling equipment, and 3 hours of open bar. We decided to snorkel right away when we got there. You can snorkel right from the beach. There were many small fish. Others who ventured out deeper said they saw lobsters. After snorkeling, we decided to start the open bar. Our waiter, Chicho, kept the drinks flowing, which meant no more snorkeling for us! Good thing Playa Uvos has a nice refreshingly cold swimming pool! When we were done, we went back to the cruise pier, did a little shopping, and got massages at the massage tents. $25 for 30 minutes, but they actually worked on us for $45. The massages were excellent and relaxing! 
I would definitely not mind going on another cruise stopping in Cozumel. 


Cozumel

Roatan was my favorite port on our cruise. It is a BEAUTIFUL island. When we were first planning our cruise, we had thought about staying at the beach at Mahogany bay. But after hearing about how beautiful this place is from people on cruise critic, we decided to take a Victor Bodden tour. 
Our driver was George "Pilo" Martinez. He was an excellent tour guide! He knew tons about the island, and his English was excellent. As I am a teacher, I wanted to visit a Honduran school, so George took us to the school his grandson attends. It definitely made me appreciate living in the USA. Many of the people in Roatan are very poor, however, they are very friendly, and I did not once feel uncomfortable. As a young woman, I was not worried about going into a corner store on my own to buy some water. 
George took us to many spots to get beautiful photos. When we were ready for lunch, he took us to this little place on stilts over a bay. You could snorkel from the dock. We were the only people having lunch and the food was amazing! 
We also visited Victor Bodden's monkey business. We got to hold, pet, and feed the monkeys. That was a great experience! 
I should probably mention that I was sick as a dog when we were in Roatan. I had spent the night before vomitting all night. George took us to a pharmacy so I could get some antacids. He was nice enough to come in with me to make sure I got the right thing as he knew the store clerk would not speak English. 
We highly reccomend Victor Bodden tours. We want to go back to Roatan very soon! 


Roatan

In Belize, we had booked a tour with cavetubing.com. It was raining when we arrived in Belize, so, before the bus even pulled away, they called the archaelogical park to make sure they river was still open and safe. I guess if the river gets too high, the caves flood out which can be dangerous. The caves were indeed open, so off we went. 
On the way out of Belize City, the tour guids told us about the city sites we went by. Belize looks like it is in a desperate situation. It appears that most people don't even having running water. It was very sad and it made me feel thankful to be in the USA. I am not a wealthy person by any means, however, going to a place like Belize made me feel like Donald Trump. It also made me glad that we had booked a tour because I would not want to walk around Belize on my own. 
On our way to the river, we drove past a Mayan village. Mayan people still live in the countryside of Belize. The countryside was much more beautiful and cleaner than the city. 
On our ride, the tour guides explained that if we did not feel comfortable going in the river because of the higher water, that it would be ok, and we would not have to pay. After seeing the river, all but one person decided to still go. I'm so glad we went. We had to take a 30 minute walk through the jungle first. I was happy it was raining as it kept the air much cooler. It was so cool hearing all of the birds. The foliage was so green and so thick. It is what I imagined the rainforest would be like. Once we got down to the river, we put on our headlights, our life jackets, and they helped us into our tubes. They tied our tubes together and guided us down the river. All we had to do was sit back, relax, and take it all in. The cave was awesome. We even saw fruit bats! The stalagtites and stalagmites were awesome. There was even a waterfall in the cave. The cave was very long. 
When were done cave tubing, it was back to the bus. We stopped at a palapa owned by cavetubing.com on the way back. We had lunch which was included in the price. We were served stewed chicken, vegetable rice, and cole slaw. The food was excellent! You could by the local beer for $3, which my husband did. I opted for a coke, as I was still recovering from being sick. 
After lunch we traveled back to the city. When we got back to the city, we decided to a straw market across the street from the cruise terminal. Before we even go to the market, about ten street vendors were surrounding us. It was overwhelming, sad, and uncomfortable. We went back to the terminal which was under heavy security. I bought a mayan carving and we went back to the ship. 
One trip to Belize was enough. If we happen to go back on a cruise that stops in Belize, we may go cave tubing again, or visit some of the ruins. But, I won't be sad if we do not return. 


Belize City

Carnival Legend cabin 7277.  Extended balcony cabin.  The balcony was a nice escape when you didn't want to be around all the other people.  The room was more than adequate for 2 people.  It had everything we needed.  It was in a quiet location.  Not a huge long walk from the elevators, but far enough away that we didn't get the noise.

The bathroom was small to me, but, my husband said that was a normal sized cruise ship bathroom." This set us up for the rest of the cruise, as Linden felt that we needed to try everything every night.
