My trip of a lifetime to Antarctica on the luxurious Viking Octantis was a thrilling experience. I must use a walker to move about but the expedition staff and crew told me that they would do whatever was necessary to ensure that I could enjoy activities off the ship. Because environmental rules would not allow me my walker ashore, I never set foot on Antarctica but nonetheless I had a very filling trip with three adventures in the Special Operations boat. I was also scheduled for a Zodiac and am confident I could have done it but it was canceled due to high wind. Safety first was the wise rule. The provided and rented clothing assured I never cold.

In addition, I developed a respiratory infection but the fine medical staff in their fully equipped center soon fixed that problem.

The ship is magnificent. Beautiful high-quality furniture and lovely art throughout. Luxurious and comfortable spaces throughout the ship were never crowded. We had breakfast or coffee delivered to our comfortable, spacious stateroom daily. The Restaurant and Italian Restaurant were outstanding but did not have to take second place to the buffet in the World Café. The menu there offered a variety of excellent cuisine at every meal including carvings of beef, lamb and even suckling pig. The grill offered Argentine beef every meal. Service was outstanding.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Nordic Balcony

Cabin was spacious, modern, and well equipped. The window opened allowing better photography. The bathroom was comfortable and provided with lavish towels and toiletries.
