Viking did a terrific job at EVERYTHING! They didn't miss a beat. Every detail was anticipated and tended to. The ship was immaculate and the staff hard-working. Everyone was so pleasant and accommodating. There was so much to do even though this was an "expedition." Nighttime entertainment consisted of scientists and historians giving talks, debriefing the day, and anticipating the next, movies, etc. No casinos nor nickle-and-diming - my kind of cruise! One could still go to the spa and special restaurants but the World Cafe was quite special in itself. Active research was taking place on board which one could be a part of. I wish we could have gone in the submarine more than once but it only holds 6. Kayaking was great, Zodiacs were incredible, and the Special Ops boat was wonderful. And then there was ANTARCTICA! What an unbelievable, incredible place!!! Whales, seals, penguins, birds..... We went because I wanted to take advantage of Viking's special 25th anniversary pricing on this cruise. While still quite expensive it was worth every penny (let me change that to dollar! :) )
