This trip was all about the 33 ports and Antarctica. HAL is recovering from COVID like everyone but they seem to expect pre COVID world to return. Nice if incompetent staff. Many things done superbly and just as many SNAFU'S. 5 star passengers who waited many days with no hot water, heat or flushing toilet. I was lucky as cabin worked well throughout the journey. Overpriced spa, who pays $245 for a massage or $125 for a mani/Pedi? The Pinnicle grill is plus $100 and bar charges. They did add a floating "happy hour" across the 4 bars at 1/2 off rates. This got the bars moving about the third week of 11. Spent 3 days in Lima with the political unrest. Not HAL's fault we missed Machu Picchu again. Antarctica was superb, missed the Falklands, again but had great fun at Carnival in Rio and Salvador. The Amazon is just overwhelming and awesome. You could spend a year there and feel like you'd barely scratched the surface. Volendam is an older ship and it shows. I like the size/passenger count. It is the old saw, cruising is for the newly wed and the nearly dead. We had 5 succumb on this journey, 4 seniors and a 34 year old staff musician. The ship handled this with grace and honor. I recommend long cruisers with great itinerary, just not Holland America right now.
I like 3 deck but the promenade.
Great city and best steak of the trip at Fervor.
