We chose this cruise because it was offered as a Heroes Sail Free. This was far from true. We were very disappointed in the entire experience. This is the first cruise I've ever been on and probably lost weight - because the food at the port of indecision was inedible. It smelled awful, and tasted even worse. I had to make myself eat it. It tasted like food that had been cooked several days prior and reheated, had absolutely no flavor at all. When we arrived at the Bahamas, we were sad to discover that we were not docked on the side of the island that had the beautiful views, but instead we got to look out onto an industrial area, full of shipping crates, heavy equipment that was digging up areas previously destroyed by hurricane damage, and building supplies, cargo ships and cranes. We could not even see the beach area. And when we inquired about taking a cab to the beach, we were told that it was $40 to get there and another $40 to come back. A friend of ours who did go to the beach later told us that they were charged $250 for a rental vehicle for a 4 hour period of time. We were highly overcharged by Margaritaville cruise line for hidden service charges that we were not informed about prior to sailing and fuel charges, gratuities, and anything that whoever was in charge of accounts count think to charge to us. We couldn't even use the ship's wifi because we couldn't afford this extra charge. Every hotel that I know of offers its guests free wifi for being their guest. So, we couldn't even look up the weather, and the weather news was not available on the tv. This was supposed to be a free cruise for heroes - NOT!!!!!!!!!!! Then we were supposed to disembark at 8:45, according to the paper notice slid under the door. When we went to disembark, we were told that since we had birth certificates, we could not leave, instead we had to wait until every person on the entire ship who had a passport or a prepaid license to chill could leave ahead of us, while we waited in line for over a 2 hour period, standing on our feet. We felt very unvalued as heroes (public service workers) to say the least. One would hope heroes would not be treated in such a fashion. It seems to us, rather that the $ was what was most important to Maragaritaville cruise line than treating its guests with what one expects on a vacation. Needless to say, we will NEVER think of sailing with Margaritaville again. And we will tell everyone that we know not to waste their time or money on this cruise.
The room was very small. It was supposed to have been remodeled in 2022. ???? I have questions about this. The shower was super small. The only phone charger in the room destroyed my phone battery, so now I have to purchase a new phone or a new battery.
The area looked like industrial zone. We did not see any beautiful sights at all. The only thing we could see were cranes lifting crates, cargo ships, and heavy equipment that was digging up weather damaged places.
