We are very experienced cruisers (over 66 cruises) and while there are some ships we like and some we don't, it takes something to really impress us. The Celebrity Edge did just that. I am going to address only things about the ship. Port excursions and opinions about ports I will leave to others.
To begin, the ship itself is beautiful and functional. Plenty of gorgeous and/or interesting artwork. The hallways are wide and common areas are roomy. The configuration just works. For example, you don't have to walk through a casino to get to the theater or dining rooms. There are so many areas tucked away for relaxing, or reading a book, or snoozing or just having a place to escape. There are wonderful unexpected places to enjoy. The Rooftop Garden, Eden, a mirrored thoroughfare, the Grand Plaza, etc. There is a place for every taste.
Our room was an "infinite" veranda. The area generally used for a balcony on other ships is encompassed into your room. It gives you an additional 42 sq. ft of space, which would be a normal balcony, but it is usable indoor space. The window is floor to ceiling and the upper window hydraulically lowers whenever you want a more traditional balcony. There are French doors that can be open or closed to isolate that area. You can see the ocean and experience the sea winds if you choose or just use the area with the upper window closed if the weather is inclement. We loved it.
