Cabin: Sky Suite 2

We wanted to visit some places we haven't been to on the Mexican Riviera. We usually take a concierge cabin but the price for the S2 Sky Suite was too good to pass up. We could not get our luggage tags ahead of time but didn't worry about it because there was never a problem with any of our east coast cruises. Wrong! We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled time to find a very long line for check our luggage. If we had the tags it would not have been a problem. Being in a suite, didn't matter, same line for everyone. It took about 25 minutes to get through that. We then went to the suite check-in door. Someone checked our documents and took our picture. Then everyone had to go through security. No special line for suites. After that, another long line to board the ship. After a few minutes, we heard someone asking if there was a special line for suite guests. She was told Yes. We followed her and moved we were able to board the ship immediately. Total time was almost an hour.

Our cabin wasn't ready yet so we went to Luminae. Wow! From the hostess to our waiter Ada, the service, the food, everything was outstanding. We had no reason to pay for a specialty restaurant when the food and service here were so good. So we get to our cabin deck 9 aft. It was huge. So much storage. Comfy bed. Our butler, Lloyd, greeted us and asked if we needed anything. He was always available. We didn't call on him much but he did go out of his way to make sure we were happy. Unfortunately, our room attendant, Indra, was not that good. We had no turndown service the first night. This had never happened to us before. The next morning we had breakfast and then did a few other things. We got back to the cabin at 11:30 and it had not been made up. Usually the attendant knows when we go to breakfast and the cabin is normally done then. If it isn't, it's not that big a deal, but I expected more from a suite. We saw him and he gave some excuse. We told our butler and the problem was fixed. I wish that was the only problem. The aft suites have a large veranda and a large porthole. The porthole was filthy. Hard to see out of it. It was never cleaned the whole cruise. Also, the curtain for it just isn't wide enough and light pours in in the morning. The chairs on the veranda were made of very hard rattan. We literally couldn't sit on them unless we put some pillows down. We told our butler but there was nothing he could do. The bathroom had plenty of space but there is no separate shower, just the bathtub. I slipped and almost fell getting in and out of the tub to shower because the tub is very high and the back of it is very slippery. BTW, it's a very very long walk from the aft cabin to any of the elevators and stairs so be prepared.

We used our OBC for ship excursions. In Cabo, we did the whale watch by speedboat. Don't miss it! It was fantastic! We happened to be in Mazatlan during Mardi Gras, and our excursion turned out to be driving around for a few hours because many streets were blocked off. We did see cliff divers. We got to the church that was supposed to be the hightlight but it iwas closed. It was a total waste of time and money. We did the Tequila tasting in Puerto Vallarta which was a lot of fun.
