We recently returned from the 10 night Panama Canal cruise on the Caribbean Princess leaving from and returning to Fort Lauderdale. After reading some of the prior reviews, I was initially wary about going on this ship. I am writing this review to let people know about our terrific experience. The cruise couldn't have gone better. The ship and the cabin were kept very clean. The food was delicious and very fresh. We loved the buffet offerings as well as the dining room experiences. There were loads of activities to do throughout the day. At night there was great music in the lounges as well as a top notch entertainment event in the Princess Theater every evening. We were impressed with how friendly, helpful and hard working the staff were.
It was very cool to experience going through the new locks on the cruise ship on the Atlantic side, and then take an excursion on a ferry boat to go through the historic locks on the Pacific side.
The boarding process to get on the ship went smoothly and quickly. The only debacle was after we got off the cruise with our luggage. The cruise ship returned to a different terminal than our departure terminal. While Princess notified us of this terminal change in advance, we didn't realize it would mean standing in long disorganized lines outside the terminal with with loads of people trying to get on very few buses back to the terminal where we all parked. In retrospect, we should have initially parked our car at the arrival terminal and taken a bus to the departure terminal to board the ship. That way we could have exited the ship and then just walked to our car after the cruise.
