Cabin: Balcony

We chose this cruise because of dates, location, and itinerary. The Carnival Magic appeared very run down. Lots of rust and flaking paint. Our cabin with balcony was fine. Lido deck was fine.

The main issue is Carnival taking the "magic" out of the dining room experience at night. We have cruised over 25 years and have seen a steady decline in that experience. Tablecloths and multiple silverware settings, bread in a bowl on the table, servers to refill water glasses, servers that knew our names and what appetizers and drinks we want after the first night, hot food being brought to the table and properly cooked. ALL GONE. Now it's a hard table, one knife and fork, salt and pepper shakers either empty or the holes plugged, constant asking for water refills or more bread (as there is no bread in a basket on the table anymore), luke-warm food and melted ice cream because there are not enough servers--they have too many tables to give good service. It is not they're fault. They were running to complete service. It is the Carnival company itself that is sacrificing the dining experience for profits.

The second complaint is the terrible connection problems with the Carnival Hub app--which each member of our party paid $5.00 to use. It didn't seem to matter where you were on the ship or what phones (android or apple) were used. The app itself is very helpful--if it would keep a connection and/or say "there is a problem and you need to reconnect".
