We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, now having visited all seven continents. We are glad we did it. The ports and scenic cruising were outstanding and memorable but Celebrity Infinity disappointed us in so many ways that we are reconsidering taking any future cruises on them. At the very least we’ll never again pay extra for Aqua Class which we very much enjoyed and felt was a good value two previous cruises. This cruise it definitely was not mainly due to a horribly managed Blu Dining Room that felt more like a punishment than a privilege.

Embarkation was one of the most disorganized we’ve experienced in 30 cruises. They did notify everyone to arrive later due to additional ship preparation because the previous cruise had an outbreak of gastrointestinal virus. The notification did not give a specific time to arrive so you can guess what happened. Everyone showed up at the same time. It took almost 90 minutes from arrival to boarding the ship. This was especially uncomfortable because the bathrooms in the terminal were out of order.

We booked an Aqua Class balcony stateroom on deck 9 that was located on the curve of the ship, giving it a 50% larger balcony than most cabins. Like much of the ship, the cabin is looking dated, lacking some modern features like USB ports and an interactive TV. Storage was adequate but there were two service items needed immediately. One of the drawers would not open. We didn’t really need it so we did not report this. The other item was a safety concern so we reported it immediately. The jet shower had swinging class doors with no rubber stripping around them. This meant that the doors swung open while showering completely soaking the whole bathroom. Our stateroom attendant said he was aware and had reported it already. The second day when nobody showed up to repair the doors, I reported the issue again this time at Guest Services. After most of the second day passed without a repair, I reported it again to Guest Services. This time I was angry and may have raised my voice a little. A few hours later right before bed on day 2, maintenance repaired the doors.
