This was our third Viking ocean cruise and second on the Star. We have been on numerous Viking River cruises. The cruise had very good food for the most part, and some outstanding dishes, although during the first three dinners, despite notifying the staff, they served food (onions) that my wife could tolerate. After that, management got involved and the problem was solved. There was no wine steward, so we were on our own for wine and cocktails. The house wines were very good however, as was the draft beer. The drink menus were worthless, as there were very few premium alcohol selections actually available. They said there were “supply chain issues”. I was glad that I had not opted for the drink package, as it would have been a waste of money.
The ship was very crowded with 15 -20 minute wait for dining room tables.
Tables in the buffet restaurant were hard to find at lunchtime, but the staff did their best in a challenging situation. I even saw the ship’s financial officer (bursar) bussing tables and delivering drinks! She seemed to everywhere on the ship!
Great cabin attendants! Maybe the best we have had in over 35 cruises.
