We have traveled extensively, both on Viking and with others, and this trip was attractive as an alternative to an annual trip or two overseas. It was to an area of the Country with which we had little exposure and, seemed like a great idea. There were highs and lows as befits a new ship. We found the ship and our Junior suite both attractive in the Viking way and clean. Our cabin attendants were prompt, polite and professional.

Shipboard entertainment was of good caliber and varied. The excursions, both included and optional, were outstanding. Our guides in Natchez and at the Vicksburg battlefield were among the best we have ever had. The Acthafalaya basin swamp boat tour should be a must with anyone with a desire for something different. In all, we found these adventures outstanding for the most part.

Dining was mixed. The more formal dining room seemed to have a menu that varied little from day to day. In comparison, the more casual fifth floor had a great variety daily. It always included a seafood bar, grill, various buffet lines and some surprises in a class walled and roofed room or at outside tables. The staff was visibly a combination of experienced pros and newcomers who sometimes struggled but were guided by the veterans who deserve your thanks. Once we found the casual dining, food service was greatly improved.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Junior Suite

Loved our suite and the largest shore ever on a ship and double sinks. Closet system left a bit to be desired with a confusing set up. Room attendants and laundry were good.

Port Reviews

Memphis

Hotel was famous but crammed to the gills. Graceland was amusing but unless you are a die hard Elvis fan you may wish to avoid standing outside his small home (in the rain in our case) and go directly to the interesting museum rooms but apparently this is not allowed.
