This was our first cruise on Carnival Horizon. It was also our first back to back cruise. We boarded the ship on February 18th, in Miami. First cruise, an 8 night, went to Amber Cove, LaRomana, Bonaire and Aruba. Second cruise, a six night, went to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. 14 nights total on the ship.
Overall the cruise was very nice. The ship was reported to be almost full but didn't feel overly crowded. We had a cove balcony which we enjoy and have had on previous cruises. The room was clean and in good order. The only problem we had was with the TV. The remote control didn't work well or the TV wouldn't recognize commands and it took several attempts to get to where you wanted to be. We had two room stewards during the two weeks. Both were friendly, recognized us by name and took good care of the room.
Food, overall, was tasty. We ate dinner most nights in the main dining room. Our waiters were friendly. We did notice that the wait staff seems to be handling more tables than on previous cruises. We have read that cruise lines are having a hard time hiring staff and it did appear true on this cruise. We ate breakfast at the buffet or Blue Iguana. The breakfast burritos are tasty. We had Guy's burgers, burritos, pasta bowls (italian restaurant) noodle bowls (Asian restaurant) pizza and Guy's Pig & Anchor for lunch. All were tasty. The cakes at the Sweet Spot during lunch were tasty. We also had the gelato which was a first for us on a ship. With so many food options, it's hard to not gain weight.
Cove balcony. Room was clean and in good order. Only problem was trying to use the TV.
